Brainwashing Ritual is a ritual in Cult of the Lamb. The player receives it from the NPC Sozo.

Description[]

Rituals. While brainwashed, followers' faith will be locked at full for 2 days, and increase their succcess chance in Missionary. Afterwards, followers may get sick.

Followers have 50% chance to get sick right after the ritual if you have "Prohibitionism" trait.

Strategy[]

This ritual, especially when combined with the Ritual Fast, allows the player to repeatedly run crusades for an extended period of time with little consequence. Add to this Glory Through Toil, and you essentially automate your entire cult for a couple of days.

Also, brainwashing allows player to kill anyone in the cult without faith penalty, making this a great opportunity to get rid of annoying, dissenting or old followers for duration of the ritual. It can also be used to use a lot of rituals that normally lower faith without needing to offset that penalty.

Though it must be noted that if player reached tier 4 in Sustenance and picked the Belief in Prohibition Trait, the consequences of performing the ritual may be devastating for cult's resources with almost every follower falling sick. This stops being an issue if a Forgotten Commandment Stone is used in the postgame for the rivaling Substances Encouraged trait, which negates the additional illness chance.

The illness caused by both the Prohibition trait and when the effect wears off regardless of any traits can be mitigated with the Healing Bay, though a swift return to the cult once the effect wears off is highly recommended in any case.
