Cooking takes place at a kitchen or cooking fire and requires harvested ingredients. To fill up the cult's Hunger, you have to cook meals for your Followers.
Each meal has its quality which is indicated by the number of stars. The more stars it has, the more Hunger it can fill when eaten. The amount of Hunger a meal can sate lowers as there are more members in the cult.
While the simplest meals will sate hunger, the high quality meals can have many beneficial effects, including spawning rare resources (how someone shoves a pile of Stone Blocks up their derriere remains an open question), increasing Faith or turning a dissenter into a faithful follower again.
If a meal is failed to cook, it will turn into a Burnt Meal. If a meal is left outside for more than 3 days, it will turn into a Rotten Meal. In both cases, the meal cannot be eaten, lowers the cult's Hygiene, and has to be cleaned up.
The meals have been arranged roughly by type:
- Basic meals
- Vegetable meals, good for sustenance
- Meat meals, for getting resources
- Fish, for mixed results
- Mixed, for increasing loyalty
- Special, which have to be seen to be believed

Strategy[]
- Prepare multiple meals ahead of time before going on particularly long crusades or entering Anura before killing Heket. This can extend the time you have to safely crusade to a maximum of 3 days + the time until followers starve.
- Cleanliness and Illness should also be taken into account when leaving out meals, as meals with a chance to cause followers to poop, vomit, or become immediately ill can force an early return.
- Followers will oftentimes eat meals even when meals will take them beyond 100% hunger, wasting part of the meal. For this reason it's most efficient to only feed quality 2 and 3 meals to followers when they are hungry or starving respectively, only leaving out quality 1 meals when crusading.
- Follower stats are frozen while in prison, including hunger. For this reason it can be optimal to have one, more, or all (testing needed) followers in prison prior to long crusades, if one can handle the faith decrease.
- There is no bonus for cooking a meal deeper in the green area than on the edge of it, so players should usually cook at the first opportunity.
- The crosshair appears at the same location as when the last meal was cooked upon starting to cook a different consecutive meal. This allows for multiple successes in a row for easier dishes (Ex. Berry Bowls) should the player cook a meal with their crosshair at the center of the cooking bar, then click again immediately after the minigame restarts for the next meal, as the center will always be green for less difficult dishes.
